January Music Babyyyyy

I feel like the music you listen to in January really sets up your whole vibe for the year. Fun fact, January is easily the most depressing month to ever grace the earth because Christmas is over, everyone feels real fat and we all get back into our work habits - college, school, jobs etc… It is usually just not a fun time for any of us. However, here I present you with some artists you should listen to and watch out for in 2020. I think they all give you a little bit of what we are all missing in January. Good vibes only from here on out boiis! We need to get ourselves excited for what’s to come for us in this often depressing time of the year.

Goth Babe

I only recently discovered Griff Washburn’s alter ego ‘Goth Babe’ and his songs are exactly what I need in my life right now. He lives in his 1996 Ford F-250 and travels around America with his dog Sadie. He isn’t overly present on any social media platforms and kind of just does his own thing in life and I feel like it really comes across in his music. His songs are just so liberating, and you can hear how this man doesn’t have any cares in the world - THE ATTITUDE WE ALL NEED!! Give this man a go, especially if you are feeling really stressed out. Even if you can feel a fraction of his freedom from his music, I guarantee you will feel better about yourself.

Chloe x Halle

Sisters Chloe and Halle Bailey have been tearing up the Music Industry in the last two years. Their 2018 album ‘The Kids Are Alright’ was easily one of my favourite albums of that year and their next album is set to come out any day now. They are incredibly talented, powerful young women who make absolute BOPS. The sisters opened for Beyoncé on the European dates of her Formation world tour. What is even more impressive is that the 19 and 21-year-old wrote and produced the album…. Lads literally just give the album a go like because it is genuinely iconic. Also don’t put it on shuffle, listen to it the whole way through. If you like them you owe me a pint :L

MGMT

MGMT have been known since their 2007 debut album ‘Oracular Spectacular’ but the pair have come a long way since ‘Time to Pretend’. The pair released their most recent album in 2018 ‘Little Dark Age’ and released another single only a few weeks ago. The musical direction they have gone in is still true to themselves while being new and exciting for their fan base. I really recommend trying this album out because you fall back in love with them all over again. Their songs are so well polished and is the exact vibe we need for this new year. Equally light-hearted and hard hitting, the pair really outdone themselves with this album.

Jack Stauber

Jack Stauber’s unique sound really makes him an interesting listen for people who may be trying to expand their music taste. His album “Pop Food” is wonderfully weird and strange. His songs have such a distinct style to them which makes him instantly recognisable and I think that that is something that is very hard to achieve. I think the album will either become one you will really really vibe with or you will despise...so give it a go. I am really interested to see what direction his music will go this year and if he will switch things up or not… But yes, go listen to it..
